MoD publishes joint doctrine on Unmanned Aircraft Systems

The Birmingham Policy Commission, led by members of the Institute for Conflict, Cooperation and Security, was cited extensively in the recent MoD Joint Doctrine Publication on Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The MoD publication provides an up-to-date guide to the terminology, tasking and deployment of military drones, and aims to consolidate best practice. The doctrine highly recommended the Birmingham Policy Commission report to 'those who wish to consider this subject in more detail'.

The Birmingham Policy Commission report was published in October 2014. It examined the challenges and opportunities that drone technology – both commercial and military – posed for current and successive UK governments.
