Alumnus appointed to the post of Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development, UN DESA
We were delighted by the news in November that United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed alumnus Dr Lenni Montiel to the post of Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Previously Lenni had held several posts with the UN, most recently as Director of Economic, Social and Development Affairs in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General.
In light of IDD’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, Dr Lenni Montiel reflected on his time at IDD and his career development since.
My PhD at IDD was time of hardwork, time of learning academic discipline, and a basis for further professional development. Always within the framework of great friendship with the academic and administrative staff of the department. This was very inspiring and motivating. Dr Lenni Montiel
