POLSIS Academic Awarded BA/Leverhulme Grant
Dr Gerasimos Tsourapas, Lecturer in Middle East Politics at POLSIS, has been awarded a British Academy / Leverhulme Small Research Grant in support of his forthcoming project, entitled 'The Politics of Forced Migration in the Mediterranean: Interstate Bargaining and Issue-Linkage in Greece & Jordan.'
The 18-month long project will attempt to understand how transit states leverage their position for political gains. In particular, it will focus on Greek and Jordanian strategies of interstate bargaining and issue-linkage with regard to their management of the Syrian refugee crisis. The project aims to nuance existing theorisation of forced migration within international relations, and to add empirical depth to the foreign policy strategies of transit states across the Mediterranean.
