IDD Guest seminar podcast: Elites, peasants and soldiers: The war for national identity in the Angolan Central Highlands

Speaker: Dr Justin Pearce, University of Cambridge

Dr Pearce is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, where he is also Research Associate at St John's College. His talk will be partly based on his book Political Identity and Conflict in Central Angola, 1975-2002, which was published last year by Cambridge University Press. Justin was awarded his PhD by Oxford in 2011, and prior to that worked as a journalist in Angola, South Africa and the UK. He is currently conducting research on political legitimacy in southern Africa, comparing the cases of Angola and Mozambique.
