Robert Keohane delivers lecture at the University of Birmingham
To a packed audience of over a hundred and fifty staff and students, one of the world’s leading scholars of international relations, Robert Keohane (Princeton) last week (29 October 2014) spoke about 'Hobbes's Dilemma and the Liberal Quest for World Order' as part of the POLSIS departmental seminar series in a joint event with the Institute for Conflict, Cooperation and Security (ICCS).
After Professor Keohane had spoken, the director of ICCS Professor Nicholas J. Wheeler acted as a discussant offering his own reflections and thoughts, which proved an excellent springboard for a long question and answer session and a drinks reception at which PhD students and post-doctoral researchers had the chance to discuss their work with one of the most significant writers on international politics.
Dr Tim Haughton who organized the event noted, 'I was delighted Bob Keohane accepted my invitation to come to talk to colleagues and students. The students, in particular, found his accessible and thought-provoking lecture a source of great inspiration'.
Professor Keohane's talk is available as a podcast: Podcast: Hobbes's Dilemma and the Liberal Quest for World Order.
