Political Parties Expert Delivers Seminar on Radical Right-Wing Political Parties

Professor Sarah de Lange

POLSIS was delighted to welcome Professor Sarah de Lange, one of Europe's leading scholars on political parties, to deliver the latest in the department's seminar series (25 January 2017). Professor de Lange addressed a large group of staff and students from across the university on the topic of radical right-wing populist political parties in Europe. The seminar presented findings of a recent major book-length study of these parties co-edited by Prof. de Lange (Radical Right-Wing Populist Parties in Europe: Into the Mainstream? (Routledge, 2016)). POLSIS' own expert on European populism, Dr Daniele Albertazzi responded to Prof. de Lange on behalf of the Parties, Voters and Elections Research Group.

Dr Mark Goodwin, convenor of the POLSIS departmental seminar series commented, "It was a pleasure to host Professor de Lange who delivered a fascinating presentation on a subject that could not be more timely. The departmental seminar series is an important component of the research activities of the department, strengthening the links between our department and leading scholars from around the world and also allows POLSIS students to go beyond their regular studies and engage with cutting-edge research in politics and international relations".

POLSIS hosts a number of seminars throughout the term which focuses on a number of different topics. The seminars are open to everyone. view the full list of the POLSIS seminars series 2016/17.
