Professor Catharine Edwards (Birkbeck College)

Catharine Edwards is professor of Classics and Ancient History at Birkbeck. Her research centres on the cultural history of the Roman world, particularly Rome in the early principate, as well as aspects of its reception in later centuries. Her most recent book is Death in Ancient Rome. She is a frequent contributor to Radio 4’s In Our Time, and she presented ‘Mothers, Murderers and Mistresses: Empresses of Ancient Rome’ on BBC4 in 2014.
