Module description:

This module is on the antitrust law in the EU. The focus will be on the regulation of the anticompetitive conduct of both private undertakings and public bodies. Topics covered include the economics of competition policy and the goals of antitrust legislation, the regulation of restrictive agreements (Article 101 TFEU) and of the abuse of a dominant position (Article 102 TFEU), merger control and enforcement mechanisms. The module will also focus on the State intervention in the market and its regulation, concentrating in particular on public undertakings and monopolies, public services and State aid. Although the main emphasis is on the EU regulation, frequent parallels will be made to US antitrust law.
