Birmingham Law School cultivates a friendly and supportive environment for its research students, and considers them as an important and integral part of its research community.
Postgraduate research students regularly organise and participate in research events in the school, such as conferences, workshops, and research group meetings. We also offer opportunities that aim to develop the research projects and skills of our doctoral students.
- Training Seminars, organised by the School, introduce research students to basic research skills. The seminars normally take place in the first semester of the first year of the programme, and cover topics such as different research methodologies, research ethics, presentation skills, and the publication process.
- Forums and workshops give our doctoral researchers an opportunity to present their work to their colleagues and members of academic staff in the school. The aim is to provide a friendly but rigorous environment where students can discuss their research with their peers and receive constructive feedback on their projects.
The School also regularly organizes social events for its students and staff, and is proud of the friendly and cooperative spirit of its postgraduate community.
