Biography

A doctoral researcher and a visiting lecturer in Legal Skills and Methods at Birmingham Law School.

Bridget Anthonio-Apedzi is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana and a Senior State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, Ghana. She has over 10 years  experience  in the Attorney General Dept , Ghana and has handled various areas of legal specialties.  As the State’s principal legal advisor at the Civil Division in Accra, she had done legislative drafting, advocacy, conducted civil cases in court, did legal research for the state and reviewed Government contracts among others

She was part of an arbitration team for mining and related cases at the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce. She also served as a member on a number of commissions of enquiry into land and environmental issues.

She also worked as a State prosecutor in the Attorney General’s Department,  Kumasi, Ghana. In Kumasi she also served as a legal advisor to the Ghana Police Service in criminal matters.

Research

The current research focuses on Environmental Impact Assessment as a means of achieving sustainable development in Ghana. The research examines the effectiveness of the procedure adopted, for the use of guidelines on Environmental Impact Assessment from international financial sponsors as against domestic laws.
