Biography

I am a doctoral researcher with diverse educational backgrounds from China and UK. As a law student, I have passed the national legal examination in China. But owing to my academic enthusiasm for Chinese philosophy, I have chosen to be an academic researcher as my life career. I started my PhD in theoretical law at Birmingham in September 2015 and expect to complete it in 2018.

Research

In contemporary China, the relationship between Confucianism and modern democracy remains one of the most significant unresolved issues. And the study of this issue will inevitably lead to another issue that is more fundamental, i.e. what the nature and function of Confucianism are. I argue that neither of these two issues is resolved as of now. My study will interpret Confucianism through Kantian reading from the political perspective to reveal the authentic Confucianism, thereby solving these two issues together.
