Max Milward

  • Licensing Assistant at The British Horseracing Board Limited
  • BA History of Art, 2013

Since graduating with a first class degree in History of Art, Max Milward has been pursuing a career in horseracing. From working on a small racecourse in the West Country to going on to work for the sport's governing body in London, Max's chosen career path is a far from his art historical pursuits at Birmingham. However, he is grateful for the analytical and research skills learnt during his degree.

What were your highlights of your time here at Birmingham?

I loved spending time in the Barber Institute of Fine Arts. My final year dissertation, which I wrote in the Barber Fine Art library on the floor below, was my most enjoyable and fulfilling piece of academic work.

What advice would you give to current students?

Keep an open mind and remember that having a History of Art degree allows you to work not only in the arts but in other areas, too!
