United Nations

Emily Russell, currently a student on the MA in Translation Studies, has been offered a two-month summer internship at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Emily has followed modules on French and Spanish translation on the MA, and her job at the UN will include translating documents from French and Spanish into English. She will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of other activities carried out within the United Nations Translation Services, including attending meetings and working with the précis writers, editing documents, drafting verbatim records of speeches, and helping to create Translation Memory. She’ll also receive some training in conference interpreting.
