My doctoral research focuses on using technology to facilitate students’ learning of Chinese characters. Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) has been conceived of as an effective way of learning languages. Given the large number of language learning software applications, it is often difficult for teachers and students to choose which courseware or application matches their needs best. It is thus important for researchers as well as practitioners to understand what drives individuals to adopt language learning applications. This research will benefit my professional practices in the field of teaching Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language, particularly within the area of technology-assisted language teaching and learning.
