Dr Louise Hardwick and Dr Alessandro Corio visiting the Georgia Institute of Technology

The Georgia Institute of Technology ranked 25th among the top 100 universities recognized in Times Higher Education’s 2012-2013 World University Rankings. The Institute was the top-ranked public university from the southern United States and ranked No. 5 in the world among its U.S. public institution counterparts.

Louise is currently Principal Investigator on a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship and her Postdoctoral Training Fellow, Dr Alessandro Corio, also attended as part of their research collaboration. During the visit, Louise, Michael and Alessandro developed future research activities, including plans for an international colloquium, Postcolonialism, Race and Biopolitics, to be held at the University of Birmingham in June 2013.

The visit to Atlanta was timed to coincide with the major US conference which Michael co-organised, the 20th and 21st Century French and Francophone Studies International Colloquium, on the theme of ‘Traces, Fragments, Remains’. Louise and Alessandro also presented research papers at the conference. More details of their visit can be found at their research project blog: http://caribiolit.wordpress.com/
