News has spread that well known criminal ‘Captain’ Macheath has married Polly, the daughter of the notorious black market clothing manufacturer, Mr Peachum. Fearing the embezzlement of his fortune, Mr Peachum endeavours to scapegoat Macheath and have him hanged. Like a spider manipulating his underground network of rogues, Peachum slowly weaves Macheath’s impending fate.

A talented student cast from the University of Birmingham present an innovative original interpretation of Britten’s work, combining opera, musical theatre and cabaret. Delve into the darkness in this social theatrical masterpiece.
