Professor Kenneth Hamilton kick off the 2017 Festival with an insightful guide to the development of the piano. A leading academic, performer, and regular on BBC Radio, Kenneth has shared his passion for authentic performance practice across the globe. In this lunchtime lecture-recital he presents the piano collection at the University of Birmingham. Hearh him play and discuss the Steinway Concert Grand piano, an 1851 piano made by Erard, the fortepiano, harpsichord, and clavichord, in his own inimatable style.
