Presented in association with the THSH Jazzlines programme, Gonimoblast is a pioneering new jazz ensemble with a heavy emphasis on electronics. Led by Chris Mapp, Gonimoblast perform music that combines measures of harsh, dark experimental tones, mixed with joyful clashes, all underlined by a narrative thread of improvisation. The group were the focus of Chris Mapp's year as a Town Hall and Symphony Hall Jazzlines Fellow, supported by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation. The lineup includes Chris Mapp (bass), Leafcutter John (electronics), Dan Nicholls (keyboards), and Mark Sanders (drums and percussion). The performance in the BEASTdome will see the group work with BEAST members to exploit the possibilities of spatialisation and will also feature members of the group performing with BEER (Birmingham Ensemble for Electroacoustic Research).
