Jordan Bak

Joseph Havlat

Award-winning Jamaican-American violist Jordan Bak brings gems of the viola repertoire including Britten’s beautiful Lachrymae (variations on a theme by John Dowland), and Vaughan Williams’ Romance, a piece full of melancholy and anguish only discovered after the composer’s death.

As a proud advocate of new music Bak also includes a work by Tyson Davis commissioned for and premiered by him in 2021, finishing with a cornerstone of the viola repertoire the Brahms Sonata in F minor, originally composed for clarinet and piano. The 2021 YCAT Robey Artist, Bak is praised for his radiant stage presence, dynamic interpretations and fearless power: "a star in the making"!

Britten Lachrymae for viola and piano, Op. 48
Vaughan Williams Romance for viola and piano
Tyson Davis Tableau XII for solo viola
Brahms Sonata in F minor, Op. 120, No. 1
