Barber Evening Concert

Binchois Consort Featuring Gusto Renaissance Winds

A near contemporary of Alexander Agricola famously dubbed his musical style to be ‘strange and upside down’. These two ensembles team up to offer a glimpse into this murky world full of twists, turns and unexpected climaxes.

For wind players, Agricola’s fantasies on well-known songs have long been a vehicle for virtuoso ensemble work. This programme brings his music into dialogue with Augustein Schubinger (cornettist and sackbut player) whose Florentine and Habsburg employment would have seen him intersecting with the similar career patterns of Agricola.
