SUMMARY:Joseph Houston - piano
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/212931
DESCRIPTION:Barber Lunchtime Concert
British pianist Joseph Houston is a leading performer of contemporary piano music, working with composers to commission and present new works alongside more established repertoire. In this concert ‘new’ comes from the pen of University of Birmingham Professor of Composition, Michael Zev Gordon, and his Diary Pieces, a collection of works for solo piano written between 2015 and 2022. We step back further in living memory to Horatiu Râdulescu’s 1993 Piano Sonata, and immerse ourselves in Scriabin 1914 dances, and Debussy’s 1907 second series of Images.\n

Michael Zev Gordon Diary Pieces (selection)
Scriabin Deux Danses, Op.73
Radulescu Sonata No.4, Op.92
Debussy Images, Deuxième Série, L.111

Doors open at 12:30.\n Please arrive in good time to avoid disappointment.\n Barber Lunchtime Concerts are open to all.\n
