Dr Olga Maleva awarded an EPSRC standard grant

Dr Olga Maleva has been awarded an EPSRC standard grant to work on the differentiability of non-linear mappings and the description of exceptional sets. The project is motivated by fundamental questions in geometric non-linear analysis concerning differentiability of Lipschitz functions and the novel concept of small sets, and proposes new ways of working with small sets tailored to their finite-dimensional character, Baire category and, most generally, metric structure.

The project will investigate dimension functions of universal differentiability fractals, typical differentiability type of Lipschitz functions on a null set in a Euclidean space, lay the foundations of the theory of curve porous sets in abstract metric spaces and develop the chain rule for differentiability of pointwise Lipschitz functions between Banach spaces.
