Carlos Galeano Ríos received his BEng degree in 2010 from the National University of Asunción (Paraguay). He went on to pursue a 2-year MSc in Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Modelling at the Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He continued his higher education at IMPA, earning a PhD in Mathematics in 2016. His doctoral work is centred on the topic non-coalescing impacts of droplets onto deformable surfaces, with special attention to the impact of droplets onto a fluid bath and the interaction of droplet impacts with surface waves.
He was a post-doctoral researcher at IMPA for a short period before moving to the University of Bath to work as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, where he continued to work on impacts on deformable surfaces (in particular fluid interfaces).
He has been a Research Fellow in Fluid Dynamics at the University of Birmingham since November 2019.
