Title of PhD: Neuropsychological outcomes of prenatal exposure to psychotropic medications

Supervisor: Dr Amanda Wood

My principal research interest lies in the field of clinical neuropsychology. My current work for my PhD explores the behavioural, cognitive and neural outcomes of children exposed to psychotropic medication during pregnancy and involves administering neuropsychological assessments, designing questionnaires and utilising structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) techniques. I am most interested in pursuing research which interlinks psychological methods with clinical applications.

Biography

I graduated with a high 2.1 in 2010 from the University of Cambridge. In the first two years of my undergraduate degree I studied Social and Political Sciences, specialising in social and developmental psychology. For my final year, I chose to study psychology within the Natural Science faculty in order to further my understanding of experimental and biological psychology as well as clinical neuropsychology.

Following my undergraduate degree I completed an MSc in Clinical Applications of Psychology at the University of Warwick, graduating with a Distinction in 2011. As part of my Master’s degree, I worked as an honorary assistant psychologist in an Assertive Outreach team, providing support for difficult to engage clients with psychosis. During that time I also held a post as an honorary research assistant with Dr Wood at Birmingham University.
