Kathy joined the CBT team in November 2015 to lead the new pathway for Psychology graduates into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Kathy has over 20 years experience in the NHS as a Counselling Psychologist and has worked in both Primary and Secondary care services as an accredited CBT Psychotherapist. Kathy has a particular interest in the treatment of co morbid depression and anxiety in clients with long term physical health conditions.

Prior to becoming a Psychologist Kathy was a General Nurse, Ward Sister, and subsequently a Nurse Teacher. In the mental health field Kathy worked largely in primary care and assisted in setting up Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services in a large mental health trust. She subsequently held both management and clinical lead posts in IAPT. Kathy is a very experienced therapist, supervisor and teacher in her field who has more recently worked clinically in a small private practice.


Kathy teaches the introductory module which focuses on the development of therapeutic knowledge and fundamental therapeutic skills.  She also leads on placement support throughout the first two years of the course. Kathy also participates in the teaching of more specialist modules and clinical supervision of students.

Postgraduate supervision

Kathy offers clinical supervision to students registered on the postgraduate courses in CBT.


Research interests

Co morbid mental health problems in long term physical health conditions.
