Niki joined the CBT Programmes team in April 2014, following a number of years contributing to the courses as an Honorary Lecturer. She mainly teaches on the Postgraduate Diploma in High Intensity Psychological Therapies (IAPT) but also teaches on the Generic Diploma as needed. Her background is in Mental Health Nursing and for many years she held a strong passion for working with people with severe and enduring mental illness, particularly those with early onset psychosis. She was a member of the team who pioneering Early Intervention Services in Derbyshire. Following the completion of the CBT course in Newcastle in 2003, most of her clinical practice has been with adults with common mental health problems. She now manages an Independent Practice in Staffordshire and Derbyshire, providing treatment, supervision and training across parts of East Midlands. Her main areas of interest are OCD and trauma, with a widening interest in third wave approaches. This has culminated in being close now to completing a Foundation Course in MBCT, the hope being to develop a programme at the University of Birmingham in the near future.
