Grounding, reduction and analysis

Monday 13 March 2017 (15:15-17:00)

Philosophy Society Seminar Series 2016/17

  • Speaker: Ralf Bader (Oxford)

All meetings take place 3.15-5pm in ERI 149. All welcome!

This paper is concerned with establishing the precise relationships between grounding, reduction and analysis. It identifies the conditions under which a grounding connection implies a corresponding reductive identity and distinguishes different notions of irreducibility, showing which kinds of irreducibility imply that a property is unanalysable or indefinable.
