The TIMES Post-graduate Forum invites you to its 2nd annual symposium at the University of Birmingham
The Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies (TIMES) Post-Graduate Forum has been formed to facilitate discussion amongst Post-graduate taught and Post-graduate research students interested in any of the fields related to TIMES including: theology; philosophy; history; law; politics; social policy; and the arts literature language and culture of the Islamic world. We have members from a range of disciplines and colleges.
We are based at the University of Birmingham, where we hold our monthly meetings, but we have members from academic institutions across the Midlands. We encourage anyone who shares our interests to join us.

Call for papers
With the aim of promoting and providing a platform for post-graduate research on Islam and the Islamic world (broadly conceived), we invite proposals for papers that will be 20 minutes in length. We welcome papers from PhD candidates and early career researchers on a wide variety of subjects relating to the Islamic and Middle Eastern world including, but not limited to, the following:
- Philosophy, theology and Qur'anic studies
- History (medieval and modern)
- Law
- Politics and social policy
- Arts and architecture
- Literature, language & translation
- Culture and sociology
- Intellectual history
- Sufism
- Economics and finance
We will also consider creative visual submissions. Individual proposals, if accepted, will be grouped with similar submissions by the conference organisers.

Registration
Registration is free and there are a number of bursaries available to support travel expenses for speakers. If you will be claiming travel expenses, please mention this with your submission
