Research

My research has a twofold aim:  to explore a possible link between anorexia nervosa and a Christian faith in women; and to consider how pastoral care can be used in the treatment of anorexia nervosa as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment model. To this end, I am working in conjunction with chaplains at the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.

This is a practical research project involving semi-structured interviews with Christian women who suffer or have suffered from anorexia nervosa.  I am analysing emerging themes from the interviews and experiences of pastoral care and ultimately I hope to be able to present a practical model for pastoral care based in the tradition of feminist liberation theology.
