Gordon Nickel's research looks at the interaction between Islam and the Gospel, specifically the Qur’an and the New Testament. His PhD focused on the narratives of tampering in the earliest commentaries of the Qur’an. He is adjunct professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Calgary and Director of the Centre for Islamic Studies at the South Asia Institute of Advanced Christian Studies, Bangalore.
