Led by John Lawler, Senior Lecturer, Public Sector Management Centre for International Development, University of Bradford.

Recent years have seen the development of managerialist practices in social work agencies, with a variety of implications for management and leadership practice.  At the same time there has been an increasing interest in ethics in relation to management and leadership both in the commercial and public service contexts.  The environment within which social work operates is characterised by competing interests within and beyond the organisation. In the attempt to pursue  effectiveness, efficiency, economy, where is the scope for empathy?

This seminar will consider different perspectives  for considering ethical leadership practice.
