What are you enjoying most about work?

The opportunity to work with clients from a variety of industries through my role. I am also enjoying having money to enjoy my life and plan for future goals.

What is the biggest mistake you have made since graduating and what have you learned from it?

I had unrealistic expectations about what my working life would be like. I have learnt that work is not always going to be exciting, especially when starting out as a grad, you may be given routine/tedious task that aren’t enjoyable but are part of the job.

What have you learned since graduating that could be helpful to other graduates?

Don’t stress if you haven’t secured a graduate scheme starting straight after you graduate. Enjoy the free time between graduating and starting your grad job. You’ve got forty years of working ahead of you! You’ll never have as much free as time and lack of responsibility again. My grad scheme was postponed from September to April and I wish I had got a part time job and enjoyed my time instead of jumping into another full time role during the gap.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

Try many different things; if nothing else, you’ll learn about what you don’t like.

How, if at all, has the pandemic affected your working life?

It has changed the nature of my job significantly from travelling a lot (across the country) to working solely remotely at home. Consultants usually travel to client site locations Monday-Thursday, but that changed during the pandemic and it may never go back to the old way of working. In future, we may see hybrid mix of going to client site and remote work.
