HSMC welcomes lecturer home from study trip

Lecturer Iestyn Williams returned to HSMC this month following a study trip to the US and Canada where he spent time at City University, New York and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.  A key objective of the six month trip was to make progress on a co-authored book and various other publications on topics such as priority setting, public value and innovation in health care.

In addition to this work, Iestyn was able to initiate collaborations with a number of North American colleagues working on similar themes and topics - in particular, disinvestment in a context of resource scarcity which has become an issue of increasing importance for health care systems across the world.  This issue forms the principal subject of a joint research bid submitted to the Canadian Institute of Health Services Research.  A number of conference papers and peer review articles on the subject are also in the planning phase.
