HSMC facilitates Birmingham City Council's initial discussions on Health and Wellbeing Board

With an expectation that shadow or interim Health and Wellbeing Boards will need to be in place by as early perhaps as this April, councils have been starting to think through some of the challenges and opportunities that will arise and how these might be addressed.  Against this backdrop, HSMC has been working with Birmingham City Council, lead GPs and NHS leaders over the last few months to raise awareness of the likely issues and to help the Council and its partners work through them.

A series of three workshops addressed issues such as new roles and responsibilities, an initial Board and sub-committee structure, the emergent clinical and political leadership culture and public engagement and communication.  Three further workshops will explore links between adult and children's services, inter-professional relationships, and decision-making and priority setting.
