The Midlands Polish Community Association supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund is pleased to present the exhibition 'Fitting in and Getting Along: Integration and Identity for Birmingham’s British Poles' at the BVSC: In the Community Gallery in the Museum & Art Gallery Birmingham from  29 November 2015 - 31 March 2016.

Fitting in and getting along: Integration and identity for Birmingham's British PolesFrom the early 1950s and onwards into the succeeding decade of the 1960s, Birmingham’s population saw the emergence of a substantial new group of young 'Poles'. This population group is now moving towards their old age and a whole unique way of life has, thus far, been undocumented. This generation are now in their 60s and 70s and it is probable that their memories would be lost if they were not recorded. The exhibition tells their story; using oral history this project has captured 26 stories of this group of people and preserved this heritage and social history for future generations to understand.

Please contact Maureen Smojkis  for further details.

This is a FREE event and all are welcome.
