Caroline recently joined the University of Birmingham as a Lecturer within the Department of Social Work and Social Care. Caroline is a qualified social worker and practice educator and has previously worked in a statutory children and families context, with a particular focus on child protection work. Caroline’s PhD research explores the use of reflective supervision in social work and social care.

Caroline is a lecturer on the MSc in Advanced Child Protection Studies, which is an online, distance learning programme

PhD Title - Promoting Reflective Supervision of Children’s Social Care Workers: A Participatory Action Research Project  (To be obtained - I have recently submitted my PhD dissertation and am awaiting my Viva)

Research

Caroline's research interests include social work supervision and professional practice, social worker retention strategies and social work with children and families. She has undertaken a number of research studies using a range of methods; these include comprehensive systematic reviews, in-depth qualitative analysis and participatory action research approaches.  Caroline is keen to explore the integration of different research methods in social work research.
