Current role

PR & Marketing Executive for TaylorMade adidas Golf - European HQ, Hampshire

Career experiences

Since graduating from The University of Birmingham I gained my first job at TaylorMade adidas Golf in Customer Services for Great Britain and Ireland. This involved managing orders for golf retail shops, sorting out returned products and answering any technical golf questions etc. This was a great place to start my career as I had to speak to many different departments to ensure orders were processed quickly and any issues were resolved in a timely manner. I thoroughly enjoyed working in this department as I got to meet many people and help out at golf tournaments and golf days e.g. BMW Championships at Wentworth and Golf Live Event at Stoke Park. My experience within this role at TaylorMade adidas Golf allowed me to progress within the company and I now have the title of PR & Marketing Coordinator.

I love working within the golf industry, especially working for such a great golf company. I have always wanted to work in golf marketing and I am now lucky enough to be doing this. My role includes the day-to-day management of the European media, attendance at key press launches and executing and evaluating all pan-European PR activities and events for TaylorMade, adidas and Ashworth brands. Exciting stuff!

What was the best thing about being an AGMS student?

As an AGMS student, the best thing was building up my knowledge of the golf industry and just learning about something I love. It provided me with a platform to spring into the golf industry and I wouldn't be doing the job I am doing now without the AGMS degree.
Birmingham is a great place to study, with a fantastic campus and great facilities. Brilliant!

Advice for current students

My advice to all AGMS students applying for a job is don't give up! It took me a while to find a job with the economic climate but it has definitely been worth the hard work searching for a job. You have got to make the most of the experiences that come your way, take every opportunity! I would also say - know what you want to do for a career and that way you can focus your energy on achieving your goals.
