PhD Title: Age-related influences of dietary and physical activity behaviours and its association with functional status among older women living in a super-diverse environment: A mixed methods study

Supervisor: Dr Janice L. Thompson and Dr Gareth Wallis

Diana is interested in promoting healthy eating and regular physical activity in vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, older adults and minority populations.

Biography

Diana was born in Mexico City where she completed her BSc in Dietetics and Nutrition in 2007. Upon her graduation, Diana worked briefly as a fieldworker for the Mexico City Diabetes Study. She then, worked as a bilingual research assistant in a dietary intervention study aimed at preventing gestational diabetes and adverse perinatal outcomes at the Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute in California, USA. In 2011, Diana completed her MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health at the University of Bristol.

Diana recently started her PhD supervised by Professor Janice L. Thompson. For her PhD, she will use a mixed-method approach to explore age-related determinants of dietary and physical activity behaviours amongst ethnically diverse older women.

Promoting healthy lifestyles through dietary and physical activity behaviours in community-based settings, particularly amongst women.
