Interdisciplinary Professorial Fellows

The University of Birmingham has created a research environment where academic rigour, innovation and delivery of research that matters are made possible by brilliant people, outstanding facilities and strong collaborative networks.

To further enhance the quality and impact of our research we are seeking to appoint a number of highly qualified and experienced Interdisciplinary Chairs.

Uniquely, as an integral aspect of the appointment process, aspiring Interdisciplinary Chairs are invited to specify the fields and intellectual focus of their Chair.

The research and research programme that is proposed must be interdisciplinary, and the Chair would be held in two (or more) schools. 

Successful appointees will be able to demonstrate why Birmingham is an appropriate environment to undertake this research, and appointees will already be well established Professors able to demonstrate and evidence an already excellent international portfolio of sector leading research with a high quality focus.

Role profile

As an Interdisciplinary chair you will be expected to lead, develop and propose significantly strategic research across two or more Schools, whilst maintaining generic Chair responsibilities.
