Hugh is involved with a mixed portfolio of trials including those concerning: severe limb ischaemia, renal disease and anaesthesia. These trials are similarly a mixture of CTIMPS, non-CTIMPs and diagnostic studies.

His work involves all stages of clinical trials from inception and grant writing to data collection and close out.

Biography

Hugh has been involved in running clinical trials based in the UK for 19 years. Starting as a Data Manager he worked his way through every role to Team Leader in Children's Cancer gaining experience of a variety of adult cancers along the way.

His first trial, the NEAT trial was published in the NEJM and his last completed trial was presented at the Presidential section of the World Conference in Lung Cancer.

Hugh had a brief stint in Primary Care at Keele University before returning to the University of Birmingham to work in vascular surgery trials.

He has experience in academic trials from the centre running the trial, to being at a recruiting centre putting patients into both academic and commercial trials, from small local trials to international multi-centre trials and medical device trials. Hugh's particular interest is in the mechanics of clinical trials.
