Angaja Phalguni is a Systematic Reviewer within the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU). She joined NHSC in November 2009 after working in public health sector in India.

Angaja Phalguni qualified as a physiotherapist in 2006, in India, where she worked for a year mainly involved in the rehabilitation of people with paralysis. In 2008 she completed her post graduation in Public Health from University of Warwick.  For a brief period She was involved in various projects in India aimed at tackling core public health issues like rural health delivery system, HIV.

Angaja joined NHSC in 2009. Her main tasks included identifying new and emerging drugs that can have a significant impact on patients and NHS and writing briefing reports on prioritised technologies. Since 2011 she has been involved in writing technology and disease specific reviews. 


  • Involved in facilitating small group teaching to medical students on topics related to public Health.


  • Technology specific review on: New and emerging biochemical tests for the screening of colorectal cancer.
  • Technology specific review on: New and emerging  tests and  platforms for the detection of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) genotypes associated with the development of cervical cancer.
  • Disease specific review on: Scanning the Future: Chronic Heart Failure.
  • Systematic review on: Effects of infant massage on mothers with post natal depression.

Other activities

She presnted two posters at the Festival of Public Health organised by the University of Manchetser in July 2012.
