Dr Genevieve Coderre-LaPalme is a Lecturer in Employment Relations. She joined Birmingham Business School in January 2019 and is a member of the Organisation, Work and Employment (OWE) research group. Her research so far has focused on comparative industrial relations, in particular trade union strategies towards restructuring. She is also developing research around employment, stratification and disability.
Genevieve holds a BA in Psychology and an MSc in Industrial Relations, both from the University of Montreal in Canada. Before starting her doctoral studies, she worked as a manager in the finance sector. In 2013, she was awarded a scholarship by the University of Greenwich to undertake her PhD at the Business School. She was a member of the 'Work and Employment Research Unit' (WERU) and involved in the European Commission funded research project 'The Effects of Marketization on Societies in Europe' (TEMS). Her doctoral research focused on trade union responses in the context of public healthcare privatisation in France and in England, looking at the national and local factors that influence union strategy.
She has presented at several international conferences and exchanged with other research units as a visiting research fellow, including the LEST in Aix-en-Provence in France, the ILR School at Cornell University in the US, and the CRIMT in Montreal, Canada.
