Madlen is an Assistant Professor in Accounting specialising in Social and Environmental Accounting, Accounting for Sustainable Development and Biodiversity Accounting at the Birmingham Business School. Previously she was a Research Fellow in Business and Ocean Stewardship, working on the Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship (SeaBOS) initiative and a Lecturer in Accounting at the Birmingham Business School.

She is also an Editorial Board member for Accounting Forum and the Social Media Editor of the Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal.

Biography

Madlen joined the Birmingham Business School in September 2016 as a PhD student and started her Research Fellowship in Business and Ocean Stewardship in 2020. She is now an Assistant Professor in Accounting with a particular focus on Accounting for Sustainable Development. She was awarded her PhD in Accounting in 2020 from the Birmingham Business School.

Her research interests cover a range of Social and Environmental Accounting topics with a particular interest in Accounting for Biodiversity and Accounting for Sustainable Development.
