Lucille is a Lecturer in Children’s Nursing within the School of Nursing at the University of Birmingham. She has been a qualified children’s nurse since 2004. Her teaching lies in diverse families within healthcare, acute children’s nursing, cardiology and advanced practice.

Biography

Lucille Kelsall-Knight qualified as a Children’s Nurse in 2004 and worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in a variety of nursing positions. Whilst she was there she studied for and gained her PGCE in Paediatric Cardiothoracic Practice and her MSc in Advanced Practice. During this time Lucille also became a European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) instructor. In 2011 she entered Higher Education at the University of Wolverhampton and has taught on a variety of undergraduate and post graduate courses within Nursing and Paramedic Science. She joined the University of Birmingham in May 2019 and is currently studying for her Doctorate in Health and Wellbeing.

Research

Lucille’s research interests focus on her clinical background which includes acute nursing care, clinical skills and diverse families within healthcare.

Her current research project is regarding the experience of lesbian parents in accessing healthcare for their adopted children.
