Anisa is a Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy & Clinical Pharmacology and has a range of experience teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Anisa completed her PhD at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. Her research focuses on phenotyping patients with overlap irritable bowel syndrome and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Biography

Anisa gained a Masters in Pharmacy (Hons) from the University of Bradford in 2016. After registration as a Pharmacist, Anisa obtained a range of experience in both community and hospital pharmacy sites across the North West. In 2018 Anisa went on to pursue a PhD at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

Anisa’s PhD aimed to phenotype patients with overlap irritable bowel syndrome and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome through symptomatic, physiological and molecular profiling. She received the Young Investigator Award from the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility for her research in this field.

Alongside her PhD, Anisa taught and led the therapeutic pharmacology curriculum on the Physicians Associate MSc at Queen Mary University of London.

In October 2021, Anisa joined the College of Medicine and Dentistry as Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacology.

  • Functional and organic gastrointestinal disorders
  • Phenotyping of patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • The relevance of gut-brain interactions in providing and developing pharmacological interventions
