Hadi is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice and Policy at the School of Pharmacy, University of Birmingham.

He has diverse international teaching and research experience. He is Fellow of Higher Education Academy and Scientist member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

His main research interests include medicines optimisation, health services research and medication safety in low and middle income countries.

Biography

Hadi completed his degree in Pharmacy from University of Punjab, Pakistan in 2007. He went on to complete a Masters in Clinical Pharmacy from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia in 2008. During his MSc, Hadi spent six months in Penang General Hospital. Following completion of MSc, he joined a public university, Univerisit Teknologi MARA (UiTM), as Lecturer in Pharmacy in Practice.

In 2010, Hadi obtained a full scholarship to undertake PhD studies at University of Leeds, UK. He completed his PhD in 2014 in health services research evaluating the effectiveness of pharmacist-nurse managed pain clinic.

He worked as a Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice at Monash University between 2013 and 2014 before being appointed Assistant Professor in Clinical Pharmacy at Umm-Al-Qura University in Saudi Arabia (2014-2016).

Hadi held various academic positions at University of Leeds and De Montfort University before joining University of Birmingham in November 2018 as Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice and Policy.

Hadi has broad research interests, listed below, and has published over 50 papers in leading international peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at various international conferences and often peer-review papers for a number of international journals. Hadi is also Associate Editor for BMC Health Services Research Journal.

Research

The overall aim of my research is to improve safe and effective use of medicines by optimising health services delivery and upskilling healthcare professionals especially pharmacists.  My research interests can be captured by following broad themes

  • Health Services Research

I am in interested in the development and evaluation of pharmacist-led services both within community pharmacies and general practice. I am in particular interested in assessing role of pharmacist in the prevention and management of long term conditions.

  • Pharmacy Education:

I am interested to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of new teaching and assessment methods. I am in particular interested in developing postgraduate training programmes for pharmacists.

  • Medicines optimisation

I am interested to apply range of research methods to develop and assess interventions to improve safe and effective use of medicines especially antibiotics.
