Asiyah Vanessa Dubuisson is the Communications and Policy Engagement Manager on the Serious Organised Crime & Anti-Corruption Evidence (SOC ACE) research programme, which is funded by the FCDO. 

She began her career in film production and the performing arts, and later transitioned to communications and marketing within the humanitarian and development sector in 2013. Asiyah has since completed an MA in development studies at the Institute of Development Studies, where her dissertation focused on religious onto-epistemological underpinnings of participatory action research methods and their potential to challenge racial- and gender-inequities. 

Asiyah maintains a strong interest in topics such as diversity, equity and inclusion and is passionate about using her creative skills to address complex societal issues that pose a threat to the very fabric of society.

Biography

Asiyah Vanessa Dubuisson recently completed her master’s in development studies at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex with distinction. Prior to this she worked as senior account manager at Crowdfunder UK, where she was responsible for building strong client relationships and developing fund distribution strategies for a variety of grant funders across the UK. 

She has also worked in the international development sector for INGOs such as Christian Aid, where she was responsible for developing programme communications for the Asia region, and Islamic Relief where she led on coordinating various marketing campaigns. In addition, she was responsible for setting up an education sponsorship programme for disadvantaged youth at Complexe Socio Educatif in Kaolack Senegal, where she volunteered as project coordinator for two years. 

Prior to moving into the international development sector, she graduated from the MET Film School at Ealing Studios and was a major-film production assistant and freelance creative content developer for major brands.
