Dr Haro L Karkour is a Teaching Fellow in International Relations in POLSIS and co-convenor of the International Relations and Security Theory research group.

Biography

Dr Haro L Karkour is a Teaching Fellow in International Relations in POLSIS and co-convenor of the International Relations and Security Theory research group. Prior to joining POLSIS in 2017, Dr Karkour has completed his PhD in International Relations in the School of History, Politics and International Relations at the University of Leicester, where he also taught since 2012. 

Dr Karkour developed innovative teaching methods since 2012 and won several teaching excellence awards. 

In 2019-2020, Dr Karkour convened the 2nd year module IR Theories and the 3rd year module Law, Politics and the International System (term 1), and the 3rd year module Contemporary US Foreign and Security Policy and the PG module US Foreign and Defence Policy (term 2).

Dr Karkour is an active member of the following:

  • Political Studies Association (PSA)

Dr Karkour also engages with the wider public beyond academia through publishing shorter pieces in the media. He has published several op-eds in Al-Ahram Weekly, some of which were reprinted in other media outlets.
