Ameneh Mehvar is an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Political Science and International Studies (POLSIS) at the University of Birmingham. Her current research focuses on the impact of the personalities of presidents on Iran’s nuclear decision-making through a political psychology lens.

Ameneh holds a PhD in International Relations and a master’s degree in Middle East and Central Asian Security from the University of St Andrews. She has several years of experience in conflict research in the non-profit sector.  Her research interests include political psychology, conflict and security studies, foreign policy analysis, and the international politics of the Middle East.

Current projects

Current research studies the personalities of Iranian presidents through the prism of political psychology, tracing the impact of individual-level variables on the development of the country’s nuclear decisions.
