Dr Jost Morgenstern-Pomorski is DAAD Lecturer in European Politics and Deputy Director of the Institute for German and European Studies. His research focuses on European foreign policy and on the European External Action Service, the EU’s diplomatic service.

Biography

Dr Morgenstern-Pomorski is the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Lecturer in European Politics and Deputy Director of the Institute for German and European Studies at UoB.

He is a political scientist interested in foreign policy and institutional politics at the European level. His monograph ‘The Contested Diplomacy of the European External Action Service: Inception, Establishment and Consolidation’ investigated the process of creating the EU’s diplomatic service. He is also interested in EU politics, international organisations, transatlantic relations and German foreign policy.

Dr Morgenstern-Pomorski has been a lecturer in EU politics at Maastricht University and Leiden University (Netherlands). He has other professional experience as a researcher at the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as well as the European Parliament.
